How to draw a character in 6 stages
Below, we are going to follow the evolution for building a character in layers. This method is especially helpful in understanding the structure of a character. It is neither an intuitive, nor an ideal method for drawing a character, but will allow us to understand everything that makes up a character when drawn with the correct volume.
First draw a schematic skeleton in a simple posture, but one that allows you to see the whole body.
Then build volumes on the skeleton, outlining all the parts of the human body.
The next step, which is more delicate, consists of drawing the body with its musculature and all of the details.
To finish, you need to draw the clothing, being careful to follow the volumes of the body that were drawn beforehand. All you need to do now is detail it, to end up with a character that has been correctly put together.
